Grocery shopping in Japan

Cheryl took a lot of photos while we were in various grocery stores. Here are a few of them.

This is Jusco, a pretty big chain of grocery stores. It's a higher end kind of store. And it's HUGE!

In Japanese grocery stores, customers bag their own groceries. Here, my mother, Mariko and I are bagging what we bought. The check-out clerk will give you plastic bags and every time, they get the number of bags and what you've bought perfectly.

Noriko (in the tan hat) checks out at the grocery store as Jessica and Fred do the same.

Eggs can be purchased in cartons of 10 or just one at a time.

My mother was amazed that the beef section was tiny, compared to the fish. Duh! That's what we said to her.

There was always a huge selection of sashimi (raw fish) and sushi (sashimi with vinegared rice).

This is the milk and cream aisle.

Shelf after shelf of soy sauce. Different brands, different tases.
